Frequency Domain Reflectometers (FDR) test cable at specific frequencies or frequency bands. Time Domain Reflectometers (TDR) test a cable against the manufacturer’s Characteristic Impedance, which basically tests the cable for any and all frequencies. The 20/20 TDR has 16 different models depending on application. They are used in broadcast, wireless, cellular, land mobile, telephone, Voice-Data-Video, RF, CATV, aerospace, military, or special applications such as Time-Based TDRs, or Project IceCube at the South Pole.
